How does kWatch® work?

kWatch® is a unique Energy Management System exclusive to Utilacor. It is a powerful tool that enables Utilacor to provide in depth and acurate data analysis to our clients.

1. Download raw data

The smart billing meter at a business premise records how much energy is used and kWatch® has the ability to directly access this information for Utilacor clients. This information is downloaded on a regular basis throughout the day and stored in kWatch® . This is the same information that the retailer uses to create an energy account.

2. Compile data

From the raw metering data downloaded by kWatch® , a usage profile is generated for each day and for each month which can be presented and trended to match the user's requests including graphs showcasing any period.

Analysis is performed automatically by kWatch® to derive information such as usage trends, site efficiency (e.g. Power Factor) and demand trends. This information will assist the client in ascertaining the efficiency of operation and to ensure that the business is on the most optimum network tariff.

The usage data is also used within kWatch® to undertake a bill comparison by replicating the retailers billing process together with the applicable tariffs and market charges to create a detailed analysis of your monthly invoice.

3. Analyse Data

kWatch® also undertakes the following:

  • Easy to use graphs: kWatch® graphically displays usage patterns which help to quickly identify changes in consumption trends or unusual spot market activity.
  • kWatch® compares a customers monthly energy bill to a replicated kWatch® report, immediately highlighting any discrepancies.
  • All discrepancies are reviewed and reported to the client and retailer.

4. Use for client's benefit

Any errors identified by kWatch are investigated by experienced Data Analysts with clients advised of those issues that need further action.

Advanced analysis reports can suggest and help implement cost saving measures including the installation of energy management products.

Data Analysts will liaise with retailers and distributors on behalf of the client to resolve any issues.

5. Monthly Reporting to Clients

kWatch® generates multi-page comprehensive reports for our Account Management clients every month. Clients with multiple sites are given summary reports and access to kWatch® on the Utilacor website, where they can view their reports and history information 24/7.

The kWatch® reports also track the progress of cost saving or efficiency management initiatives that have been implemented to measure their ongoing effectiveness.

SMS notification: is especially important for those clients who have entered into a Wholesale market based energy agreement with their retailer. Customers are informed of any predicted and actual volatility in prices as soon as the information is available.
